Each huipil pillow cover is a one-of-a-kind treasure made from the huipil or shirt of a Mayan woman. Weaving and embroidery are
very important in the Mayan culture, every village has its own
distinctive style.
Pillow covers have a zippered back ready to be stuffed with your insert. Each pillow has a descriptive tag with the name of the village that it is from.
Embroidered pillows are not made from old huipils but are heavily embroidered with silk thread using freehand machine stitching. The background for these pillows is corte or skirt material which is handwoven on a foot loom.
