Huipil Pillow Cover - Pattern 8
This throw-pillow cover is made from a Mayan woman's huipil, or blouse. The surrounding fabric is made from a traditional skirt or corte hand-woven with an ikat design. The pillow comes with a tag explaining it's origin. This is probably from the town of Almolonga, the hand embroidered pattern is very intricate and colorful. You can see a bit of the heavily flowered embroidery that would have accented the collar in the top left corner of the pillow. I have a pair of these that are very similar but the other one is the overall pattern without the little section of embroidered collar. Zippered on the back to take an 18" x 18" insert
