Huipil - Chichi Market Bag 4 ***SOLD***
A roomy bag made from a Mayan woman's huipil or shirt. There is a large outside pocket covered in a button down flap and a 2 1/2" wide padded strap for comfort. It zippers closed.The back and the strap are made from hand woven cotton ikat cloth.
Every Mayan village has it's own style of weaving and embroidery and women take great pride in their clothing. Bags are cut from actual huipils and may show slight signs of wear. This one is from Chichicastenango and features the sun design around the neck pocket which symbolizes that a woman is the center of her own universe. Hand wash in cold water to preserve the vibrant colors. Size 13 1/2" x 12"
